AFP reports
that the Iraqi Parliament adjourned today because they did not have a
quorum despite the session being called by President Jalal Talabani.
The Parliament 'hopes' to meet tomorrow and address the elections. Of
course, they've been 'hoping' that for some time. In fact, remember
November 27th when we were being told a compromise had been agreed to?
Only it hadn't been agreed to, had it? No.
But the violence continues . . .

cathee Books
I can't just stop myself from buying books. Just this week I
bought 3 books, and today when I went to the mall I bought another 2. Thank
heavens for the black market in Recto, the booksales, and the very cheap price
of classic novels which I am collecting at present. Thus, I am able to suffice
my addiction for literature. So right now I am reading Henry Fielding's Tom
Jones. And I still have the following to read:
Crime and Punishment, Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Php 99 @ NBS) Candide,
Voltaire (Php 99
@ NBS as well) Animal Farm, George Orwell (bought for Php 160 haggled from orig Php 180
price) Shirley,
Charlotte Bronte (Php 45
@ booksale) Brave New World, Aldous Huxley (Php 35 @ booksale)
So you see, they're at their cheapest.
But the price isn't the reason why I should stop buying books for awhile. With
all these, and the others in my shelf that I haven't read yet, including the
800+ pages Vanity
Fair and the Anne of Green Gables... (more)

After
only 3 weeks of owning this TV, the TV randomly shut off on its own
while we were watching TV. Now the TV constantly just turns on and
turns off (with no actual image being displayed on the screen). The
only way to shut it off is to disconnect it from the main power source.
Called Samsung and apparently it's an issue with the power supply, and
they have to send a technician to repair. Turns out, this is a common
issue with Samsung. I am not amused that after spending 2500$ on a
brand new TV, it will need repair after only owning it for 3 weeks..
